I have setup an intranet site inside a corporate network. To test the website, we asked users to try withhttp://servername:portnumber. The site prompts for credentials and it never gets accepted. In IIS logs, we get 401 1 and 401 2 status codes. But, when I open an internet explorer inside the server and usehttp://servername:portnumber , it works without any issues.
I have checked IIS_WPG and app pool identity which has all the required accesses to the folder. We are using a service account as app pool identity and it is also a member of IIS_WPG which has rwx permissions on the folder in wwwroot.
It prompts for credentials when i open the site through a browser on my desktop whereas it works fine with my credentials when i open up a browser inside the application server. Any pointers will be greatly helpful.
